About
The Heights Preschool (HP) Parent Teacher Committee (PTC) is a team of Heights Preschool parents with a mission to drive parent-community involvement in our kids’ classrooms and support our kids’ teachers. We will work with the parents and teachers to make sure that classroom parties and special events have parental participation and support. We will also drive teacher acknowledgment to provide special treats on holidays, during Teacher Appreciation Week, and on major holidays.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the PTC?
PTC is a new organization for Heights Preschool with a mission to support our kids’ teachers. We will provide special treats for our teachers on their birthdays, during Teacher Appreciation Week, and on major holidays. Please join and help us provide this valuable recognition! The PTC will be organizing classroom volunteers throughout the year to support our teachers. Volunteer opportunities can include providing supplies or providing extra hands for special projects, parties or events.
What does the PTC do?
The PTC will plan and organize fun and educational events for the students and our community throughout the school year. The PTC also holds several fundraisers throughout the year to finance these events, and playdates and to support our mission.
Why join the PTC?
The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Committee is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. There are many benefits to supporting the PTC:
● Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening with your HP Community
● Tap into a Network. The PTC functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport and discuss issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
● Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with the PTC, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.
● Speak Up. The PTC can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at Heights Preschool
● Witness Improvement. By getting involved with the PTC you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. The PTC plays an important role in organizing volunteers and fundraising to provide school improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events.
● Be a Role Model. By joining the PTC, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
Parents, Educators, Grandparents, and all Heights Preschool community members are invited to join the PTC!
How can I help?
Join the Parent Teacher Committee (PTC)! Your annual membership dues help fund all our projects for the entire school year. Joining the PTC does not require you to volunteer or take on extra responsibilities during the school year.
Sign up to be notified of volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. There are opportunities to utilize the vast array of skills our HP parents offer from event coordinating and fundraising to helping with special projects utilizing design and engineering skills.
Is the PTC only for parents?
When “Parent” is used to describe a position, please know that this includes Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles, Step Parents, Guardians, etc. Some of the best support the PTC had this past year was from Pop-Pop’s and Mimi’s.
Will my family be recognized as contributing?
The teachers will absolutely know that your family has contributed to the PTC and that your support is what pays for their holiday gifts. One of our special projects we are working to fund is a dedication wall to show the names’ of the families that have contributed to the PTC since it's founding.
Does my contribution cover me for the whole year?
Yes, this contribution will cover your family from September – May of the current school year.
How much involvement is required?
By signing up to be involved/volunteer, you are simply stating that you agree to be on the email list that will be used to notify parents of classroom needs and/or volunteer opportunities. You are not committing to anything at this time, other than receiving the notifications. When request or notifications are sent, you can then decide if that opportunity to help is a good match or feasible for you. If it is, just respond that you will do it!
What if I have other ideas or questions?
Let us know! Email the PTC leads with your ideas or questions, catch us at school or let Kelly and Carla know that you want to reach us. We are a very new group and really want to make sure our parents are involved in providing support and recognition for our teachers.
